‘Leatherface’ News: 'Texas Chainsaw Massacre' Prequel Details Released
The good news for horror fans is that the new "Leatherface" movie is going to be all about the young psychopath coming into his destiny.
Now that the film is a lock, new plot details have been emerging, and they are shockingly twisted, much like the first film in the "Texas Chainsaw" series that horrified audiences around the world.
In an interview with French website Allocine, directors for the film Julien Maury and Alexandre Bustillo spilled a few details about what fans can expect from the upcoming project, which has been highly anticipated for quite some time within the horror community.
Dread Central translated the details of the Allocine report from French to English, and there are some interesting aspects to note.
First of all, fans know that there was already a prequel to the series, which was titled "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre: The Beginning." That film was a direct prequel to the remake by Marcus Nispel.
The "Leatherface" prequel will be a direct line to the original film, directed by Tobe Hooper in the early 1970s. It will also be going further back than "Beginning" did and will take a look at the maniac in his adolescence.
The film itself will be just as brutal as the original classic, but it will be taking place on the road. It will follow the boy after he escapes from a mental asylum with a group of teens. They kidnap a young nurse, and the story unfolds on the road as they torture and maim the woman.
The film also takes a nasty turn when Stephen Dorff steps into the role of a Texas Ranger who is hot on their trail. Dorff's character has a nasty vendetta against young Leatherface, and the lines will blur between the hero and the real monster at some point.
This road trip from hell will be the event that shapes the young man into the murderous cannibal Leatherface.
