NFL Injury Report Update: Indianapolis Colts' Andrew Luck Has Partially Separated Shoulder
The Indianapolis Colts are back to .500 in the standings after a 16-13 win over the Jacksonville Jaguars last Sunday, per ESPN stats. Starting quarterback Andrew Luck missed a game for the first time in his career, but veteran backup Matt Hasselbeck played good, leading the team to victory.
He went 30 out of 47 passes for 282 yards with one touchdown and no interceptions. Luck was supposed to start against the Jaguars as he tried throwing earlier before the game but was announced not ready to play, according to NBC Sports.
The report also said that he is still testing his injured shoulder in practice to see if he is fit enough to be in the starting lineup on Thursday against the Houston Texans. The 26-year-old quarterback injured his right shoulder against the Tennessee Titans in week three and underwent an MRI to reveal the severity of the injury.
Indy Sports Central reported that Luck suffered a partially separated right shoulder or a subluxation. A source close to the Colts said that at least three medical experts on these types of injuries examined the quarterback's shoulder and gave their findings.
NFL.com added that there was no structural damage on the shoulder, but the young quarterback experienced some bruising and soreness. Based on the findings, it was believed that Luck would be available on Thursday against Houston.
Colts coach Chuck Pagano gave a quick update on his star quarterback's status via an interview with the Indy Star. "He made progress all week. So we're going to continue. He's getting treatment right now. He'll work out tomorrow and we'll just take it day-by-day and see where he's at," Pagano said.
"He was trending in the right direction throughout the course of the week. Maybe he could come in this morning, we were going to evaluate him, see how he felt," he added.
Luck explained his side regarding the injury to WTHR Indiana, saying, "I don't think I'll ever get into specifics on injuries on myself. It's a slippery slope there. I'm feeling better every day."
The 2012 first overall pick added that he is still day-to-day and it will be the decision of the team doctors and trainers if he will play on Thursday. "I'll be as honest as possible with where I am and take it day by day and the great thing is, I've been feeling better every day and that's the goal," he said.
