'Dancing With the Stars' Season 21 News: Nick Carter Pays Tribute to Backstreet Boys [Watch]
Nick Carter paid tribute to the Backstreet Boys for his "Dancing With the Stars" performance on Monday.
The 35-year-old former band mate rocked to the boy band's 1996 classic hit "Everybody (Backstreet's Back)" while recreating the music video with his pro partner Sharna Burgess.
"Any time I get an opportunity to feel like I'm on a live stage on a live television show -- that's a whole other level," Carter told Us Weekly after his performance.
"It was cool. It was a hybrid of so many things," Carter continued. "[Sharna] was able to put new choreography to an older song that had the same choreography we'd been doing for 20 years. I was able to feel refreshed but at the same time do some fun old moves."
His performance gained 27 points out of 30 this week as other Season 21 "DWTS" couples had to say goodbye. Luckily, Carter stays on while this season is on its way to the fifth week.
"That was epic for me!" Burgess said of the performance.
"I was just trying not to be a total geek and playing along! This week went from amazing moment to amazing moment for me. I'm so incredibly grateful. ... It is a moment that I'll cherish for the rest of my life."
Fans cheered Carter on in the audience along with former band players from the 90s, including O-Town's Jacob Underwood, Trevor Penick and Erik-Michael Estrada, *NSYNC's Joey Fatone and 98 Degrees' Jeff Timmons.
"They're all from my movie 'Dead 7' and I love all of them. It's crazy how the world works -- the same people who were kind of competing against each other in the music business in the past -- we're all best friends now," Carter said.
"And they all feel comfortable enough to embrace that and these are the only people who've gone through the same things that I've gone through and that I can share those experiences with."
Carter stars in "Dead 7" and is currently filming the Western flick.
