The highly anticipated sequel to the 2005 hit movie Sin City is finally here. Sin City: A Dame to Kill For is set to release on Aug. 22 of this year. As fans may well know, the development for A Dame to Kill For began shortly after the success of 2005's Sin City. This developmental nightmare has finally produced a sequel which fans hope will be worthy of the original Sin City which grossed $158.8 million in box office sales around the world. In the last few years, several release dates have been teased by both the actors themselves and the studio which has led to even more excitement as the date is finally here (Rotten Tomatoes lists 97 percent of those polled are anticipating watching this movie).

A Dame to Kill For maintains the style of the original while bringing in new players and story lines. The plot follows two more stories by Frank Miller, the author of the original graphic novel that Sin City was based on. Similar to its predecessor, the sequel will be completely black and white, inspired by film noir according to the Wiki. The same multiple intertwining story line style will also be featured. Many members of the original cast will be returning such as Bruce Willis, Rosario Dawson, Mickey Rourke, and Jessica Alba but new characters will be joining the cast played by big names like Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Josh Brolin. IMDB also gives the byline "The town's most hard-boiled citizens cross paths with some of its more reviled inhabitants."

With the high anticipation of A Dame to Kill For the Sin City franchise has a lot to live up to. Graphic novel fans are notoriously finicky when reviewing remakes and sequels and Sin City will be no different. The directors, Frank Miller and Robert Rodriguez, seem to be keen on the high expectations so hopefully that will be reflected in the cast, style, and story line of A Dame to Kill For. So far so good for fans, but the real test will be in August.
