Daniel Craig, the current incarnation of James Bond, recently went on the record with his desire to move on from the character and the franchise.

In an interview with Time Out London, Craig gave some candid insight into the future of James Bond, in which the actor didn't include the actor himself. When asked if he could imagine himself doing another "James Bond" film, he definitively rejected the possibility.

"I'd rather break this glass and slash my wrists," Craig told Time Out. "No, not at the moment. Not at all. That's fine. I'm over it at the moment. We're done. All I want to do is move on."

That's an interesting statement coming from the man who has taken the franchise to new heights at the domestic and foreign box office. But Craig has seen the role become tiresome. It appears the role now requires more hard work than he originally set out to do, especially in terms of his image.

"It's a drag. The best acting is when you're not concerned about the surface. And Bond is the opposite of that," Craig said. "You have to be bothered about how you're looking. It's a struggle. I know that how Bond wears a suit and walks into a room is important."

But that doesn't mean that Craig would want someone else to come in who would fail at the part and let down the franchise. The actor respects the series of films as an institution. He would just rather not be the one to play the part.

In regards to the next actor to take over as Bond, Craig said he would advise any prospective stars to "step up" and really take the role seriously.

According to Entertainment Weekly, the latest Bond film, "Spectre," is due out on Nov. 6.
