Fantasy Football Week 5 Quarterbacks: Start 'em or Sit 'em?
Week 5 of the NFL season is here and Fantasy Football owners are gearing up for another big weekend. The quarterback position is always the most critical because of the high points they can accumulate. But, you have to make sure you start the right quarterback.
Here are the best and worst quarterback options for Week 5
Start 'em
Tom Brady
The 3-0 New England Patriots are coming off a bye week, and they face the Dallas Cowboys. The Cowboys will be at home, and yes, they do have talent, but they're hurting badly at the moment. This will be Greg Hardy's first game in a long time, and the Cowboys corners are weaker now than ever. Sean Lee may very well play, but can he cover Rob Gronkowski? The Cowboys also aren't a very good home team. This is an obvious one.
Alex Smith
Alex Smith usually doesn't put up the most gaudy numbers, but in Week 5, he gets to face the Chicago Bears at home. The Bears defense is terrible, and this Kansas City Chiefs team is desperate. Smith had a season high 386 passing yards last week against the undefeated Cincinnati Bengals. The Bears defense has allowed the third most passing touchdowns against this year so far.
Aaron Rodgers
Aaron Rodgers is on a historic streak at home. He hasn't thrown a single interception at Lambeau Field in years. Rodgers currently has 11 touchdown passes and zero interceptions with a 125.9 passer rating. The wildly inconsistent St. Louis Rams will be Rodgers' next opponent, or maybe victim. Right now, there's no safer bet than Rodgers at home.
Sit 'em
Russell Wilson
The 2-2 (controversially) Seattle Seahawks take on the Bengals this week. Wilson is a great young quarterback, and he can rack up points with his legs, but this may not be his week. This is a new offense and Jimmy Graham is still trying to adjust to the system. Wilson is also fumbling the ball at a high rate. The offense line is in for a big test against the Bengals, and the Seahawks running game is struggling without Marshawn Lynch.
Matthew Stafford
In incredibly rare fashion, Matthew Stafford did not thrown an interception last week against the Seahawks. Let's face it, he's due. The Detroit Lions have no running game whatsoever to speak of, and Stafford will be facing a tough Arizona Cardinals defense. The Cardinals defense ranks second in interceptions forced so far this year.
Derek Carr
Derek Carr is a good young quarterback, and you can tell the Oakland Raiders finally have someone reliable throwing the football for a change. But, this is going to be too much to handle. Carr and the Raiders take on the 4-0 Denver Broncos, who have the best defense in the league at the moment. The Broncos defense ranks first in total yards allowed, first in passing touchdowns allowed, fourth in interceptions forced and first in passing yards allowed. Von Miller and DeMarcus Ware will create havoc for Carr while Aqib Talib will eliminate big throws downfield.
