OnePlus 2 Availability: No Invite Needed to Purchase Phone on Oct 12 for One Hour
OnePlus has restricted the purchase of their smartphones to an invite-only system, but on Monday, OnePlus' second smartphone, the OnePlus 2, will be available for purchase without an invite for just one hour.
OnePlus announced on its online forums that the smartphone will be available for one hour in several time zones throughout the world, Tech Radar reports.
In North America, the OnePlus 2 will be available from 3:00 to 4:00 p.m. ET. The one-hour window will be enforced at different times depending on where customers live, meaning interested buyers should ensure they are on the website during their time zone's correct assigned time.
In Europe, the OnePlus 2 will be available from 12:00 to 1:00 p.m. CEST and in Asia (including India) from 12:00 to1:00 p.m. HKT.
Customers will be allowed to purchase two OnePlus 2 devices per order, but will be allowed to place as many orders as they want, which means customers could get an unlimited amount of OnePlus 2 phones.
The OnePlus website has held similar "flash sales" like this in the past, and the site has crashed because it was not able to handle all of the web traffic. Because the OnePlus smartphones are in high demand, there is expected to be a great deal of traffic on the site during the sale.
When the OnePlus One debuted, it was difficult for buyers to get access to an invite. The company promised that there would be many more invites available for the OnePlus 2, making it easier for customers to receive an invite.
The OnePlus 2 starts at $329 in the U.S. for the 16GB storage model with 3GB of RAM. For $389, customers will receive 64GB of storage and 4GB of RAM. The 5.5-inch OnePlus 2 will be powered by an octa-core Snapdragon 810 processor and will be equipped with a 13 megapixel (MP) dual-LED flash rear-facing camera, according to Pocket Now.
