‘Pride and Prejudice and Zombies’ Movie Trailer: Watch Lily James, Douglas Booth Fight Off Undead
The first movie trailer for the action-packed and horror-filled "Pride and Prejudice and Zombies" has been released online.
This short U.K. teaser conveys the merging of manners and mayhem featured in the film, which is an adaptation of the Seth Grahame-Smith parody novel, according to Comicbook.com. His original story, published in April 2009, was meant to be a retelling of the 1813 Jane Austen classic with the addition of the undead.
Previous footage of the film, shorter in length, was released at the San Diego Comic-Con earlier this summer.
The grimly reimagined film is directed by Burr Steers, who also wrote the screenplay alongside David O. Russell.
In the first half of the minute-long clip there are cheery displays of elegantly dressed folk, refined women and ballroom dancing, which could easily trick the viewer into thinking it's a preview for the next Austen film. However, the second half of the trailer gets into the gorier portion of the movie featuring those same well-mannered women slaying zombies with a mixture of martial arts and lethal weapon skills. The end of the trailer simply reads "Coming Soon."
This fresh twist on the Austen classic sees Elizabeth Bennet, played by Lily James, and her sisters Lydia (Ellie Bamber), Mary (Millie Brady), Jane (Bella Heathcote) and Kitty (Suki Waterhouse) defeating the undead while also figuring out how to withstand the societal pressures of 19th century England.
Actor Sam Riley plays Bennet's romantic interest Mr. Darcy, and Douglas Booth takes over the role of Mr. Bingley. James' real-life suitor, Matt Smith, plays Mr. Collins.
Additional actors in the film include Jack Huston, Charles Dance, Hermione Corfield, Dolly Wells, Emma Greenwell, Aisling Loftus and Sally Phillips.
"Pride and Prejudice and Zombies" is scheduled for release on Feb. 5, 2016.
