The news series coming to ABC Family Channel, "Shadowhunters," is based off the hit novels and film "The Mortal Instruments." Now that the series has officially been greenlit and produced, the show has released a first look at what fans can expect for the show.

According to Deadline, the pseudo-trailer was comprised of clips released via the show's Snapchat account and featured some interesting scenes from the show.

The clips featured the first glimpse for fans of the book series' main characters, including Clary (Katherine McNamera), Jace (Dominic Sherwood), Alec (Matthew Daddario), Isabelle (Emeraude Toubia), Simon (Alberto Rosende) and Luke Garroway (Isaiah Mustafa).

The book series that has also been immortalized on the big screen is about a young girl, Clary, who turns 18 and finds out about her destiny and the legacy that has been left behind for her to contend with.

She soon finds out her legacy is of a birthright and she has descended from a long line of hunters who are called Shadowhunters. But they are no ordinary hunters, as they have angelic characteristics and are hybrids themselves. Their main goal is to hunt down demons and destroy them. Of course, this is something totally new to Clary, considering it was her 18th birthday that set it all into motion.

She is joined in her new life by Jace and Simon, who help her discover her role within the order. Her mother Jocelyn is kidnapped, and of course she has no other choice but to be at peace with her destiny and join the cause, if for nothing else, to get her mother back.

The series will premiere in 2016 on ABC Family -- or on Freeform as ABC Family will be called by then.
