There will be some new emojis next year and there are 67 possibilities for what they could be. A facepalm emoji, a shrug emoji and even a selfie emoji are among the many choices.

Not all of the candidates will make it to the final list of emojis that will be decided on at the Unicode Consortium next May. They will then be rolled out in June for use by the public, Mirror reports.

The 67 new emoji possibilities are in addition to the 38 new emojis that the Unicode Consortium made available this year.

The new emoji possibilities were picked for various reasons. Some of the emojis worked well with those that are already in existence and others were requested.

A popular request for bacon to be added as an emoji might be answered because that is one of the 67 candidates for inclusion next year.

Some emojis were easier to update than others. The basic smiley emoji was given a cowboy hat to turn into the cowboy hat emoji.

To include both genders, other emojis could be added next year. The dancing man could join the dancing woman and the prince could join the princess. The dancing man looks like he is doing the disco and the prince still wears the crown like the princess, only with short hair.

An emoji that describes the action of taking a self portrait, most commonly referred to as a "selfie," could be added. The emoji is just an arm holding a phone while taking a picture.

More animals are expected to be added as emojis. Some of the choices include an eagle, a duck, a shark and a lizard.

In the sports category, gymnastics, boxing, martial arts and fencing could finally get emojis. There might even be gold, silver and bronze medals to honor the Olympics.
