There has been a lot of ambiguity surrounding the name of OnePlus' holiday offering. It was initially refered to as the "OnePlus 3" then the "OnePlus Mini," and, just recently, the "OnePlus X." Whichever name it decides to go by, one thing is for sure: the smartphone has already been given the green light to retail in the U.S.

And now, it has also been approved for sale in China thanks to TENAA. As always, the Chinese regulator has posted images and details of the handset on its official certification website.

The TENAA photos, which were sourced by Weibo user Vetrax, showed the OnePlus Mini/X not having the dual rear-facing camera setup. Instead, it has a single sensor main camera with LED flash positioned on the upper-left corner of its back panel, reminiscent of the iPhone 6s.

The handset's apparent metal build is flanked on both sides by two 2.5D glass panels. Three capacitive buttons at the base of the front panel can also be seen while the standard physical button on its left edge is expected to function like the OnePlus 2's handy three-way button, as per G for Games.

Regarding the other tidbits of the OnePlus Mini/X, TENAA listed the handset as having a five-inch IPS touchscreen display and a 2,450 mAh battery. Its dimensions are at 140 x 69 x 6.9 mm. Lastly, the upcoming OnePlus smartphone runs on an unspecified version of the Android OS. There are dozens of other rumored specs of the handset, although only the aforementioned have been conclusively backed up.

A release date has yet to be announced, however, OnePlus co-founder Carl Pei earlier told USA Today that the company's third offering will release sometime in December, before Christmas rolls around.

In other OnePlus news, the Chinese upstart is the latest to join the "Make In India" campaign. The program was launched by the Indian government to encourage economic growth in the country through manufacturing. Gionee, Oppo and Xiaomi have already pledge their support for the program.

OnePlus India CEO Pete Lau revealed in a gathering in Bangalore that the company will start assembling its device locally in collaboration with Foxconn. The Taiwanese electronics firm has even offered its Andhra Pradesh facility in India to OnePlus for the said joint venture, The Next Web reported.

The decision will most likely result in Indian buyers paying less for the homemade OnePlus smartphones, yet it works both ways. The setup will only increase the gap between the demand and supply of the company's offerings, at least transiently. To this, OnePlus added that it will revert back to its purchase via an invitation system in the near future.
