Star Wars Episode 7 Movie Cast, Rumors, and News: Carrie Fisher Confirms She's in London Shooting Episode 7
In case you were wondering if you can count on Carrie Fisher -- who played Princess Leia in the original Star Wars trilogy -- to appear in the new Star Wars Episode 7, you can rest easy knowing that not only is she confirmed for the much-anticipated sequel in the Star Wars saga, but her role is much bigger than originally thought!
According to Metro, the confirmation came from Fisher's Legit co-star Jim Jeffries. On Friday, he went on Sirius/XM's Opie & Anthony show and confirmed that Fisher, 57 (!!!), will be in London for the next six months to shoot her part for Episode 7. "She said to me, she goes, 'I'm going off to London for six months to film the new Star Wars movie,' right? And I don't think from looking at it, the new Star Wars movie is a direct continuation. It's number 7 but it's not going to be the next day, I'll tell you that much. Maybe she had the same problem the Emperor had, I don't know," he said to the shock jocks.
Obviously, this bit of news is exciting to those of us who are watching the latest news from the Star Wars camp -- JJ Abrams, who has been notoriously tight-lipped about the project (despite promises to be more open), has only confirmed that Fisher/Leia has a cameo in the new role. But, if she's going to be in London for six months, it stands to reason that the role is a lot more than just a "cameo."
Indeed, according to ScreenRant, this reasoning makes sense, specifically because of the Kasdan-Abrams rumored script. Originally, as we know, the Episode 7 script was written by Michael Arndt (who also wrote the script for Toy Story 3), and this script focused on the Skywalker and Solo children while keeping Han, Luke, and Leia in background & supporting roles. But ScreenRant confirms that sources close to the script have confirmed that Han, Luke, and Leia will be taking center stage, though it still isn't clear as to what the new, retooled script will focus on in the Star Wars story.
