The Marvel Cinematic Universe is expanding and a familiar face has joined the mix: Luke Cage. While "Daredevil" and the upcoming "Jessica Jones" have grabbed most of the attention during the New York Comic-Con (NYCC), the latest details on the new Netflix series promise a franchise that will be just as strong as its fellow hero-centric stories.

According to a report from The Daily Dot, the NYCC panel revealed that Cage will be a part of the MCU from the pilot episode of "Jessica Jones." His relationship with the private investigator is a well-known one from the comic books, and his presence on the show is the jump-off point of his own solo series.

Mike Colter, who will play the titular character, shared more tidbits about the upcoming "Luke Cage" on Netflix, explaining how the two shows will work separately but in sync.

"I can tell you what they've allowed me to, which is basically, 'Luke Cage' will take place a few months after 'Jessica Jones'," Colter told Comic Book. "So in real time, if you watch 'Jessica Jones', you'll find [at the end] Luke Cage uptown in Harlem, working, trying to make ends meet."

He explained, "Luke Cage really hasn't figured out what he's doing. He's tending bar, he's bouncing around. And for good reason, he's a fugitive, he has some skeletons in his closet."

While the hero will try laying low and steering clear of his superhero stature, it won't be long until the need for him to embrace his abilities emerges.

"He's trying to basically stay off the radar," Colter continued. "The people he hangs around with, though, are in need. Ultimately, he'd rather be alone, but with the way he's equipped he does step up. That's what it's about, it's about finding that inner feeling to make you want to take action. Sometimes we just sit around, and sit on our hands and don't do anything because it's like 'hey, that's not my problem.' You can't do that when you're a superhero. You have these gifts, now use them."

The journey of Cage is an interesting one that will have him crossing paths with Jones — in the comic books, the two eventually get married — but "Luke Cage" will stand on its own from its fellow Marvel heroes as well. The setting alone gives it a different flavor from "Daredevil" and "Jessica Jones."

"So I can say you'll find him uptown in Harlem, and in a completely different world from Hell's Kitchen," Colter confirmed.

"Jessica Jones" will be available on Netflix on Nov. 20.
