'Friday the 13th' Video Game Trailer Unveiled, Release Date Set This October
Gun Media must be really honored after the creator and director of the original "Friday the 13th" Sean Cunnigham asked them to partner with him in creating an official Jason Voorhees game.
According to Attack of the Fan Boy, Gun Media is not new to this type of project as they company has previously created a horror flick, "Summer Camp," last fall. Crowd funding platform Kickstarter has already made an introduction of the "Friday the 13th" game in hopes of informing players and fans ahead of time. Kickstarter has also revealed a staggering budget of $700,000 in order to start the game's development.
On "Friday the 13th's" Kickstarter page, the game was introduced with a trailer that was captioned: "Jason Voorhees is unleashed and stalking the grounds of Camp Crystal Lake! Now we need your help to make this game an amazing reality!"
The page also revealed some detailed and important information about the game's development. Apparently, "Friday the 13th" chose Kickstarter instead of relying on a publisher in order to keep the original concept and nature of its motion picture version.
Secondly, the plan to create "Friday the 13th" despite being introduced on Kickstarter has already been funded. In fact, anything that will be added up to the fund will be used in enhancing and putting more content to the game as well adding more features.
The "Friday the 13th" game will also allow gamers to play the character of Jason Voorhees. The page said, "You get to play as Jason. Let's say that again. YOU GET TO PLAY AS JASON! You get to stalk camp counselors in Camp Crystal Lake and brutally kill in new and inventive ways (as well as some that will seem all too familiar)."
Players can choose which characters they want to use. They can either be Jason or one of the counselors at the Camp Crystal Lake. The multiplayer concept of the game will assign one player as Jason and seven others that will take on the role of the counselors.
Playing as one of the counselors on "Friday the 13th" will give gamers two options to stay alive. First, they can keep running. Run away and escape from Jason for as long as they can. The other option is to fight him using the given and assigned fight modes in the game.
"Friday the 13th" is expected to be released in October of 2016 and will be available on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC.
