HTC One A9 News: HTC Confirms New Smartphone Will Be Announced Soon
HTC is teasing a new smartphone, and the company will have a special event on Tuesday to introduce it. The phone is expected to be a mid-range device that uses the HTC One name, but it will not be the One M10.
This will be the second flagship smartphone from HTC in 2015, but rumors point to it being a mid-range device, not a high-end device like the HTC One M9, Tech Radar reports.
The new device will probably be called the HTC One A9. In certification documents, the proposed phone was referred to as the HTC Aero. HTC will probably take the A from Aero and call the phone the One A9.
At HTC's annual meeting earlier this year, HTC CEO Cher Wang said a new "hero" device would be coming in October, suggesting a phone with high-end specs.
On Wednesday, HTC sent out a tweet that included a video for the launch event taking place next week. The video is in black and white and shows a desert with rain and wind. This could mean that the One A9 will have more rugged features than previous HTC devices, possibly waterproofing and dust-proofing.
According to leaked images, the HTC One A9 is set to look very similar to the Apple iPhone 6s, with thin bezels on the sides, a metal edge and antenna lines on the back of the device. It could come out in six different colors, all but one already being iPhone colors.
The screen could be very similar to the One M9 with a 5.0-inch Full HD AMOLED display. A Quad-HD display has also been rumored, but this would ramp up the price for a smartphone that is expected to have just mid-range features.
The processor inside the One A9 will probably not be in the same category as more expensive phones. This means a Qualcomm Snapdragon 620 instead of a Snapdragon 810. The One A9 will come with Android Marshmallow pre-installed.
