There's a new "Zelda" title coming up, but it might not be what the fans are expecting. "The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess" is getting remade as an HD game, giving players a taste of the top-performing Nintendo game ahead of the release of a brand new title in the future.

According to a report from Destructoid, WiiUBrew hackers discovered the plans for the game when they spotted a listing on the latest Nintendo update servers. The description merely read "The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess HD," and the region included is Japan.

Nintendo has previously tried to dabble with HD versions of games including "Twilight Princess" and "Skyward Sword," so it's not unlikely that they try producing one for another "Zelda" title. In 2013, producer  Eiji Aonuma talked about experimenting with HD remakes, saying "The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess" was one of the games they tried creating an HD version of.

"When we were thinking about the new Zelda for Wii U, which is something we're actually working on, we needed to experiment with a variety of graphic styles and it was part of that process we took some existing Zelda games and made them HD just to see what would happen," he told Polygon in an interview.

He added, "In doing so we realized that the Wind Waker graphic style, the art style, really represented well on the Wii U given the graphic capabilities of the new system. It really brought that world to life."

Back then, the team decided against remaking the "Twilight Princess" in HD, saying "maybe it will happen if someone else does it."

He explained, "I can't say that the possibility is zero that those ['Twilight Princess', 'Skyward Sword'] will be made into HD, but right now I need to work on the next installation in the series so I don't have the bandwidth to do that right now."

Now it looks as if the time has come. If released this year, fans of the "Zelda" franchise are in for a treat after news came that Nintendo will not be releasing the new game in 2015. In a video update earlier this year, Aonuma said that a release this year is no longer a priority for the team, according to Destructoid.

"As I have watched our development progress, I have come to think that rather than work with meeting a specific schedule as our main objective, and releasing a game that reflects only what we can create within that scheduled time, I feel strongly that our focus should be to bring all these ideas to life in a way that will make Zelda on Wii U the best game it can possibly be," he said, adding that Nintendo is creating a game that might even exceed his own expectations.
