Carrie Underwood's new album has a firm release date slated for Oct. 23. In a recent interview for People's cover story this week, the singer shared details about her upcoming album, which is now available for pre-order via iTunes.

"Storyteller" is going to be Carrie Underwood's first album now that she's already a mom. Talking about it and what she thinks people anticipate from it, the mom of seven-month-old Isaiah shared, "I feel like everybody expected me to have an album full of 13 mommy-and-me tracks."

"Like, everything would be sentimental and mushy. I'm still me, and this is just another layer," she continued.

The "Jesus Take the Wheel" singer also said that her new album offers "a fresh twang." Though it will still offer traditional country instruments and the kind of storytelling that is staple to country music, she said that the new album is "very cool and very now and very fresh."

One of the tracks featured in Carrie Underwood's new album is "What I Never Knew I Always Wanted," which is a tribute to her son. "I never pictured myself singing lullabies in a rocking chair in the middle of the night," she told.

"There's always one song on each of my albums that it's just like, 'That's so personal and really deep and kind of hard to get through. It's just for me.' And that one is definitely just for me," further describing her song for Isaiah.

Another track to expect from the "Storyteller" album is "The Girl You Think I Am," which is a track she co-wrote. The song talks about her wanting to fullfil her father's expectations and perspective of her, People reported.

Carrie Underwood's fans can also expect the singer's "first 'bona fide' love songs" from her upcoming album. She said that those songs are something that she haven't really done yet in her previous albums," Underwood said about "Heartbeat" and "Like I'll Never Love You Again."

"I think the reason I shy away from love songs is that I find so many to just be super cliché: 'Oh, your eyes, when I look at you...' It's just not real."

Underwood explained that "Heartbeat" and "Like I'll Never Love You Again" are "very conversational and real."

"It's imperfect. It's not putting love or this person up on a pedestal, like you can do no wrong. It's not fairy tale-ish. It's real," she further added.

Meanwhile, asked by Shape about her secret on getting a flat belly, the 32-year-old singer shared that she will go for any kind of workout whenever she can.

"For me, it's the key to being happy and healthy," Carrie Underwood continued. "Though it's difficult to find spare time these days."
