"Call of Duty: Black Ops 3" will be a nail-biting, edge-of-your-seats type of game, if the recent in-game spoilers from a Treyarch developer is to be believed.

"A lot of the mystery of the latest trailer and all the story stuff is there because there is some really screwed up mind-f***ery going to happen to you when you play the game. That's the Black Ops narrative, that's intentional in design." the studio's design director David Vonderhaar told GameSpot.

The 42-year-old game developer said Treyarch is injecting creep factor to its upcoming first-person shooting game simply because "that's the Black Ops way." He reminded that the series is about covert operations and players should feel tense, doubtful, and always on their guard while playing the game.

"You're a Black Ops operative. Your counterparts have gone off the grid in a world where you're connected and wired all the time. There's a huge leak of military intelligence and you're sent in to investigate that. So we set it up that way and we send you up and along the way, we untangle a huge weavy story; a very deep, very dark, and sometimes really twisted narrative experience," Vonderhaar remarked.

Vonderhaar also took the time to reveal how Treyarch went about designing the game's futuristic weapons.

"As a first-person shooter, you're obviously focused on weapon design. The weapons team will basically plot how weapons have evolved over time, and they'll project beyond where we are. They'll turn themselves into futurists so that they put the weapons where they would be in 2065 in our timeline, which is a very distinct timeline. Someone else's 2065 might be very different than the Treyarch Black Ops 2065."

He added that some weapons and features might be difficult to fathom in today's day and age, but they are actually grounded in reality.

"You can see the roots of that stuff right now," Vonderhaar concluded.

The latest reveal came a couple of days after Treyarch unveiled the game's "Zombies Shadows of Evil Prologue" and a week after the gameplay teaser for the "Cybercore: Chaos" abilities was released.

According to GameRant, the "Cybercore: Chaos" abilities let players put their opponents in a state of confusion, leaving them exposed and vulnerable to attacks.

The new futuristic skill includes an electric blow to an enemy's chest called "Wide-Area Misdirect." There is also "Adaptive Immolation" that lets players detonate enemy bombs. Another ability players can use is "Firefly Swarm," which sends a swarm of tiny drones to distract and neutralize opponents. Lastly, the "Sonic Antipersonnel" ability makes targets fall to the ground and barf out their lunch.
