"Full House" star John Stamos faces a DUI charge, and he could spend six months in jail as a punishment if he gets convicted.

The Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office informed that Stamos has been "criminally charged with a misdemeanor count of driving under influence of drugs" and that the 52-year-old celebrity's arraignment is set on Oct. 16, Friday, Variety reported.

Stamos, the actor who is also part of the popular 1980s to 1990s series' reboot on Netflix, may have the DUI punishment of half a year in prison for an incident that happened in June in Los Angeles, noted the site.

People reported in June that the actor, who appeared in "Glee," was arrested by the Beverly Hills Police Department. The police officers told the magazine that they obtained reports from callers and witnesses that a certain person was "driving erratically."

It turned out it was Stamos, whom the law enforcers requested to pull over on June 12, 7:45 p.m., and consequently "booked for DUI."

However, Stamos was then sent to a medical facility in the area after the officers observed that he needed a doctor's attention from a "possible medical condition."

The actor was then "released to the care" of the local hospital.

Why he fell apart

According to his friends, his mother's passing in September last year was just too difficult for Stamos to bear, that he lost direction in his life, a separate article of People noted. Despite a career that is going well with the "Full House" project and being the lead of "Grandfathered," he still had a rough time dealing with his loss.

"That was crushing for him. He did his best to stay strong, but he absolutely fell apart," a source told People in June, a few days after the news about his arrest surfaced.

Yet, the actor seemed to move forward with his life, basing on his recent interview on Details.

"You know, I've had a rough year with my mom dying, so it all came to a head, and it was a turning point. You either continue on that path -- and some of it's fun, but a lot of it's not -- or there's this other thing, this golden opportunity sitting there with all this work and all this goodwill that you have going for you. That's the key. I feel better than I've felt in a decade," Stamos said.

Stamos has also undergone a concrete step in July to rehabilitate his condition, Details noted.
