‘The Walking Dead’ Season 6 News: Premiere Draws 20 Million Viewers, Season 5 Gag Reel Leaked Online [Watch]
Apparently, the early news that the ratings drop on AMC's "The Walking Dead" turned out to be less of a worry because it did not measure the Live + 3 ratings.
According to Deadline, the official numbers for the premiere have grown quite substantially when all the number for viewers watching the episode off their DVRs gets taken into account.
The original reports for Live + Same Day numbers staggered around 14 million viewers, which in effect reported that the "TWD" premiere was down in the ratings compared to the same premiere for season five, which drew 18 million viewers in the same measurement.
But now, the Live + 3 numbers indicate the show drew in 19.5 million viewers and 12.84 of those viewers were from the key demographic of 18 - 49. That also gives it a 10.1 rating, which towers above the competing shows of that time slot and makes the show the biggest on basic cable television and one of the most electrifying ratings phenomenon in years.
What's even more stunning is the fact this is a horror show and it performed this well against "Sunday Night Football," which is historically a ratings juggernaut. The show took away 33 percent of the "SNF" audience that it had the week before.
Fans of the show might also be pleased to see that there has been a gag reel leaked on the Internet and it shows some of the funniest behind the scenes moments from season five of the show.
Just imagine the kind of comedy that can come about if Glen (Steven Yeun) is in the middle of his scene and a plane is heard flying through the sky.
"Heeellppp!" Yeun playfully yelled during the gag scene.
You can also imagine just what it looks like when star Andrew Lincoln messes up during a powerful scene. It is a laugh a minute.
Check out the video below before it gets taken down by YouTube.
