DeAngelo Williams, running back for the Pittsburgh Steelers, has a heart of pink gold -- he has decided to once again sponsor free mammograms to 53 women in honor of his late-mother Sandra Hill, who died from breast cancer in May 2014.

Last year, The DeAngelo Williams Foundation in collaboration with Charlotte Radiology and Levine Cancer Center launched the event "53 Strong for Sandra" where uninsured or under-insured women were given free mammograms and follow-up care. This year the event has expanded to include Pittsburgh and Memphis.

Williams has been an advocate for breast cancer awareness and early detection since 2009 when he successfully convinced the NFL to allow pink cleats to be worn throughout the month of October. Although the demonstration of support fared well with spectators, this year Williams' request to wear pink the entire season was denied. According to ESPN, pink accessories, such as gloves or wrist bands, are a violation of the NFL's uniform policy.

Williams, who also lost four aunts to cancer, rebutted by dying the tips of his hair pink instead.

"Pink is not a color. It's a culture to me."

"My Hair is Pink, My Toenails are Pink, & My Heart is Pink" This new TV commercial is dedicated to my mom, my 4 aunts, and women everywhere affected by Breast Cancer. I love you. #WeAreInThisTOGETHER
