Oppo unveiled the newest addition to its R7 smartphone series during the Gulf Information Technology Exhibition (GITEX) in Dubai.

Branded as the R7s, the large-screen phablet will be available starting November in countries including Australia, Indonesia, Malaysia, Singapore, Taiwan, Thailand and Vietnam. Consumers in some countries in the Middle East and North Africa can also grab hold of the phablet next month, as per Mobipicker.

Consumers in the U.S. and Europe shouldn't feel left out though as they can eventually purchase the R7s in December via the OppoStyle website.

So what of its specs? First off, the R7s boasts of a 5.5-inch AMOLED display with a 2.5D screen glass.

AMOLED or Active Matrix Organic Light-Emitting Diode improves some aspects of the older generation IPS LCD screen. AMOLED separately lights individual pixels atop a thin film transistor. This means color schemes are more enhanced. Light colors are brighter while dark colors are distinctively darker, Gizmag reported.

Meanwhile, Android Authority described 2.5D as a slight curve at the edge of a handset's glass display. The design can be seen on smartphones like the iPhone 6, Nexus 6, and Xiaomi Mi Note 5, wherein the glass is placed atop the rest of the body instead of being secured by two slightly protruding bezels.

The 2.5D screen glass technology improves the R7s aesthetically as well as ergonomically since users can glide their fingers anywhere on its surface without having their fingers getting caught on the raised glass corner from time to time.

Other specs of the R7s include Qualcomm's Snapdragon 615 chipset containing eight cores and the Adreno 405 GPU. In terms of memory, it has 4 GB of RAM along with 32 GB expandable storage up to 128 GB via micro-SD slot.

Oppo's upcoming flagship phablet rocks a 13-megapixel main camera with support for lightning quick phase detection autofocus, which only takes one tenth of a second to focus. Furthermore, it has an eight-megapixel front-facing unit that is more adept at capturing selfies and video chats.

Its 3,070 mAh battery can continuously run for 13 hours and 15 minutes while its VOOC Flash Charge system lets it charge for only five minutes for two hours' worth of non-stop talk time.

Lastly, the R7s runs on the Android 5.1 Lollipop underneath Oppo's very own ColorOS 2.1 user interface.

As of the moment, pricing for the R7s hasn't been reported although figures are expected to be released just before the phablet becomes available next month.
