The first photo from "War for the Planet of the Apes" filming has been released by the director himself, Matt Reeves. The image was posted via the director's official Twitter account with a caption, "#It has begun."

"War for the Planet of the Apes" release date is set for July 14, 2017. There haven't been any details revealed yet regarding the plot of the movie but the script is created by Reeves and Mark Bomback, according to Cinema Blend.

Moreover, as for "War for the Planet of the Apes" cast news, fans of the "Planet of the Apes" rebooted version will still see Andy Serkis as Ceasar, the ape leader, in the upcoming installment. A new ape will join to possibly take over the role of Koba and according to Screenrant, it will be played by Steve Zahn.

As for the new human characters in the film, fans can see Woody Harrelson and Gabriel Chavarria in the upcoming sequel. Reportedly, Harrelson, most notable for his works in "The Hunger Games" and "True Detective" will play a villain role in "War for the Planet of the Apes."

Chavarria's character details are still unknown. However, the Screenrant report further noted that the actor might play a significant role, most probably, same as Jason Clarke and James Franco's role in the first two installments.

"War for the Planet of the Apes" is the third chapter for the franchise following 2014 "Dawn of the Planet of the Apes." The movie earned almost $209 million in domestic box office.

Meanwhile, its foreign ticket sales reached to up to more than half a billion US dollars. With its success both in domestic and international theater releases, the movie was able to earn $708,835,589 in total earnings, according to Box Office Mojo.

The first "Planet of the Apes" franchise offering, which was titled "Rise of the Planet of the Apes" was released in 2011. It garnered more than $481 million in worldwide box office.

As cited on Cinema Blend, there's also news going around about the official title of the upcoming movie. Aside from "War for the Planet of the Apes" as the movie title, reports also suggested the possibility of having "War of the Planet of the Apes" as the official title for the 2017 sequel.

With the new set photo released for "War for the Planet of the Apes," the movie is expected to continue its production in the next several months with new details to arrive as filming progresses.
