Barbara Walters is rumored to be considering a full time-return to "The View" amid the show's plummeting ratings and other controversies.

The New Daily News reports Walters has recently been consulting with "high-powered friends" about the show's sudden troubles. There is now talk within the industry that she might return to the program during sweeps week later this month.

Reports are the legendary Walters has been "disappointed" by all the recent drama surrounding the show. Walters' possible return follows a recent decision by network officials to bring back original panelist Joy Behar in the desperate hope that she might bring more stability.

"She created it, and to see the show turn into this hodge podge of topics which constantly gets press upsets her," a source said of Walters. "She doesn't want to see it canceled, and thinks she's the only one who can save it."

Yet, others express increasing doubt that even Walters could fix the show's problems.

"It's not like she can return there every day to produce a live show," a source added. "She watches, and has given notes, and continues to give notes but she should be remembered for creating it, not its demise."

Walters last appeared on the show in May 2014, taping an episode that featured Oprah Winfrey and Hillary Clinton, among a group of other female anchors who joined to pay their respects to Walters.

Since then, the show has added a number of rotating panelists and, among others, the controversial and outspoken Raven-Symoné as a regular. Raven-Symoné recently came under heavy fire on social media after admitting she would discriminate against job applicants based on their names.
