The new poster for "Star Wars: The Force Awakens" was revealed on Sunday.

Months after the first poster dropped at D24, Disney finally revealed the official theatrical poster. Like posters for the original films, the new image is a collage of many different characters from the film.

The official poster reveals Lupita Nyong'o's character Maz Kanata, alongside usual suspects like the droids R2D2, C3PO, and BB8. It also features Princess Leia, played by Carrie Fisher in yet another stylish haircut; Han Solo, played by Harrison Ford; and Chewbacca in an action pose.

Front and center is Captain Phasma (Gwendoline Christie) flanked by storm troopers, and in the background there is an object reminiscent of the Death Star from the original trilogy. Could this be the rumored Starkiller base? More importantly, does this indicate a rehashing of plot points from "A New Hope" and "Return of the Jedi?"

The poster also indicates the distinction between the dark and good sides through the colors blue and red.

Kylo Ren, played by Adam Driver, represents the dark side. In the poster, he holds a lightsaber so that it parallels the staff held by protagonist Rey (Daisy Ridley). The proximity of the two characters on the poster may be a sign that they are connected in some way, perhaps even indicating a familial relationship. Finn (John Boyega), on the other hand, stands on the blue side of the poster, holding up his own lightsaber.

Poe Dameron (Oscar Isaac) is also in the poster. As is the Millennium Falcon, which is one the franchise's most iconic images.

The poster was released on Sunday, a day before the trailer to the film is set to be released on Monday. Along with the poster, three teasers were released based on already-seen footage.

It was also announced that Disney is planning a Star Wars marathon in which all six films will be shown the day before the release of Episode VII.

"The Force Awakens" will be released on Dec. 18.
