Heroes Reborn Season 1 Episode 6 Spoilers: Masi Oka to Reappear as Hiro Nakamura
After weeks of teasers and fake-outs in "Heroes Reborn" promos, it looks like Hiro will finally make his return next week.
The newest promo released for NBC's primetime superhero series confirms that fan favorite Hiro Nakamura (Masi Oka) will appear in Thursday's episode, "Game Over."
"He was America's favorite hero," the promo says. "And now when we need him most, he's back."
Hiro was one of the most popular characters from the original series. The hyper-enthusiastic comic book geek from Japan often landed himself and his buddy Ando (James Kyson) in trouble with his powerful time-manipulating abilities.
Curiously, Hiro appears in two different forms in the trailer. One is an older, more mature looking Hiro, whose gray-streaked hair seems to indicate he's somehow aged far past the few years since the first series' conclusion.
The other Hiro is the confident, ponytailed and dual blade wielding incarnation. That version of Hiro made a cameo in the original series, when he visited his present day self from the future. It's possible the two Hiros in the promos come from entirely different timelines.
Oka recently said he looked forward to Hiro's return.
"I'm excited to return to my 'Heroes' roots," Masi said, according to Den of Geek. "Hiro Nakamura was such an inspirational role to play, and I'm hoping the fans will enjoy seeing him back on TV."
Executive producer Tim Kring added, "The character of Hiro Nakamura was such a huge part of the first series' success, and a gigantic fan favourite. We felt the fans would really love seeing him back in action again."
A separate trailer gave a greater glimpse at the episode, showing many of the heroes meeting together for the first time. Malina (Danika Yarosh) speaks with Luke (Zachary Levi), telling him something "is a sign." Meanwhile, Noah Bennett (Jack Coleman) greets Miko (Kiki Sukezane), and the two face off against Renautas and the mysterious Shadow character.
"Heroes Reborn" airs Thursdays at 8 p.m. ET on NBC. Check out Hiro's promo below.
