Gabriel Iglesias Coming to ABC with New Comedy Series ‘Fluffy’
Comedian Gabriel Iglesias' hysterical brand of comedy is making its way back to ABC with a put pilot order for his new show, tentatively titled "The Fluffy Shop."
According to Variety, the new show will center around the comedian's own life, which plays off his alter ego "Fluffy."
During his career on the road as a comedian, Iglesias has had to juggle his professional life with his home life. He gets very little time at home with his family, but when he does, it gives him incredible inspirations for the material he uses in his stand up comedy.
The series will essentially mirror his own life, much in the same way that "Seinfeld" did with Jerry Seinfeld's own show and comedy tours.
The series will be a scripted, multi-camera show that will take many different avenues for the comedian to work with. That does not mean that there will be no improv, but there will be a formula for each show to work from.
Iglesias has made waves around the TV, film and cyber spectrum with his hilarious antics and self-deprecating, take-no-prisoners style of comedy. He has been most well known as an equal opportunity offender, taking aim at all cultures and creeds for some of their not so subtle ways of living or acting.
Although stand up comedy has been his main avenue for success, Iglesias has also appeared in many different mediums. He had a role in another ABC show titled "Cristela," which has since been canceled. He has also appeared in both "Magic Mike" films in all his hilarious glory.
There have also been feature length movies made about his stand up comedy as well as TV standalone specials.
Iglesias will be joined behind the camera by co-writer Jay Lavender ("The Wedding Ringer," "The Break Up") and Tim Doyle ("Last Man Standing"). There has been no word yet on when production for the series will start because the project has not gotten that far in the contract stage yet.
