The joy of pregnancy always entails sacrifices and just like any ordinary mom, Drew Barrymore is not an exception.

The mom-of-two revealed that as she welcomed her second child with art consultant Will Kopelman, she also faced post-partum depression.

While she loves having her two tots, 3-year-old Olive and 18-month-old Frankie, she said that everything is a mix of perfect and imperfect.

"I didn't have post-partum the first time so I didn't understand it because I was like, 'I feel great!'" the 40-year-old actress told People. "The second time, I was like 'Oh, whoa, I see what people talk about now. I understand."

Barrymore also mentioned that she felt "overwhelmed" after she gave birth to her second child but it was a "different" kind of overwhelming that left her feel under the cloud.

The "50 First Dates" star shared that she has battled post-partum depression for six months while she struggled juggling myriad of responsibilities-from being a mom of two to being a wife and being an actress. On top of her Hollywood career, the actress is currently busy working on her new book, "Wildflower," which will hit shelves very soon. With all of those things on top of her mind, no wonder she felt depressed.

"I just got right on the idea of, where do I need to be the most? Fifty-fifty would be ideal but life doesn't work like that. Life is messy," the actress added. "It was just really challenging and I felt overwhelmed. I made a lot of decisions and I definitely changed my work life to suit my parenthood."

But despite it all, the actress said that she was happy to overcome her depression and charge it to experience as she learned that it is important to "stay present in the moment."

Apart from overcoming depression, the actress also added that she had a hard time losing her pregnancy weight. Although she said that she did a bit of exercise, she said that she only aimed for what's beneficial for her sanity.

The "Blended" actress said she did kickboxing, yoga and elliptical for several times a week but she only does it "more for mental."

"I never looked good in a bathing suit, so now I look worse in a bathing suit. I have cellulite. But I would much rather have my kids and look a little worse in a bathing suit!"

She added that she have her family as her priority and as well as her work duties, she said that getting the Hollywood-type of body is the furthest thing on her mind. "It just isn't at the forefront of my mind," she added.
