‘Jane Got a Gun’ News: Natalie Portman Featured in First Trailer [Watch]
Natalie Portman appears in the first gun-slinging trailer released for the film "Jane Got a Gun."
The 34-year-old actress is featured in the new clip for the Western, which has undergone several major changes during production, according to Entertainment Weekly.
Originally the film was set to be directed by Lynne Ramsay and the script penned by "Insurgent" writer Brian Duffield, with the cast to include Portman, Michael Fassbender and Joel Edgerton.
Due to schedule conflicts, Fassbender left the project and Ramsay exited not long after. "Warrior" director Gavin O'Connor swooped in to replace Ramsay, and Anthony Tambakis was hired to rewrite the script.
Then, even though the film finished shooting in 2013, it was forced to postpone release due to financial troubles for production company Relativity Media.
The storyline of the film follows Jane Hammond, played by Portman, who asks her ex-lover, played by Edgerton, for help in order to save her husband from a gang of bounty hunters.
Additional cast members in the movie include Ewan McGregor, Rodrigo Santoro, Noah Emmerich, Boyd Holbrook, Alex Manette, Todd Stashwick, James Burnett and Sam Quinn. Jude Law and Bradley Cooper both considered joining the movie, but backed out.
This marks Portman's first lead role since 2011's "No Strings Attached" and "Your Highness."
The actress is currently shooting "Planetarium," a film about sisters who are believed to be able to communicate with ghosts. The film, directed by Rebecca Zlotowski, also stars Lily-Rose Melody Depp and Audrey Quoturi.
Portman is also in the pre-production stages of a starring role in "Jackie," in which she'll be taking on the role of Jacqueline Kennedy, forced to deal with John F. Kennedy's assassination in 1963. This film is due out in 2017.
"Jane Got a Gun" is due in theaters in the U.S. this February.
