Samsung Galaxy View: Ultra-Large Tablet to Compete With iPad Pro Might Be Coming Soon
Samsung looks like they are building an extra-large tablet, and according to leaked images, it will be bigger than most laptops.
The Samsung Galaxy View is Samsung's next tablet and it is set to have a huge 18.4-inch screen, Tech Radar reports.
SamMobile was able to secure some promotional images that look like they came directly from Samsung. In the images, the 18.4-inch screen is highlighted, and so is the tablet's dock that allows it to be propped up in various angles.
The 18.4-inch screen is bigger than most laptops that have usually 17-inch screens at the largest. The Galaxy View is not a laptop though, it is missing a keyboard and the main feature of it is the touchscreen.
Samsung takes away the home button on the Galaxy View and puts the ports on the side of the device. This means that most of the time users will be using the tablet in landscape mode.
The big screen on the Galaxy View might consume a good deal of battery so the tablet will be equipped with a big 5,700 mAh battery. The resolution might be on the low side at 1,080 x 1,920, so the screen would not be consuming too much battery throughout the day.
The chip inside the Galaxy View could be Samsung's own Exynos 7580 processor. This is an octa-core chip running at 1.6 GHz. The tablet is also only expected to have 2 GB of RAM.
For storage, the Galaxy View is expected to have 32 GB of internal storage. There is no word on whether there will be a microSD slot for adding more storage.
Apple has already confirmed a large-screened iPad that would have near a 13-inch screen, but the Galaxy View would be much larger. Hopefully Samsung finds a way to keep the massive tablet thin and light.
