Samsung Galaxy News: Samsung Announces Budget Model Smartphones
Samsung has introduced two new Galaxy models, but they will not be as advanced as the Galaxy S series. The Galaxy On5 and On7 are designed for budget-conscious customers.
According to Android Authority, the two new phones from Samsung offer less impressive internal components than other Galaxy devices, but are still capable smartphones.
The first difference between the Galaxy S and the new On5 and On7 models is very noticeable: the screen. Instead of HD displays or Quad-HD displays, these phones will have TFT displays. The resolutions will be capped at 1,280 x 720 pixels, which is pretty far from an HD display.
The Galaxy On7 has a 5.5-inch screen, and the Galaxy On5 has a 5-inch screen. A better camera will be found in the Galaxy On7, which has a 13 megapixel (MP) sensor for its rear-facing camera, compared to just an 8 MP sensor on the Galaxy On5.
The On7 will also have the bigger battery at 3,000 mAh. That battery should last an entire day thanks to the rather low screen resolution. The Galaxy On5's battery is 2,600 mAh, which provides average battery life.
Both smartphones feature two slots for SIM cards. This means that these phones can travel internationally with different types of SIM cards.
The two budget phones actually look rather nice compared to other low and mid-range Samsung smartphones and nicer than budget phones from other companies.
The chip inside both phones is the rather slow quad-core Exynos 3475 at just 1.2GHz. This chip will be paired with 1.5GB of RAM, which could mean slow performance.
For storage, both phones will come with 8GB of internal space, but only 4.9GB will be available for use. However, there is a microSD slot that will allow the phones to be expanded up to 128GB of internal storage space.
No pricing is available yet on these two phones, but they will be much cheaper than the Samsung Galaxy S6.
