The highly anticipated premiere of "Ash vs Evil Dead" is about to make its way to Starz next Saturday, and reviews are already playing up the reportedly remarkable series ahead of its release.

According to a review by Deadline, the show is packed with all the infamous blood and gore of the original film trilogy. The violence is apparently expertly combined with the truly outstanding comedy lead actor Bruce Campbell has brought to the franchise since "Army of Darkness" back in 1992.

Deadline reports that Campbell once again stars in the series as the title character Ash, a role he started way back in 1981 and has been reprising in various ways over the past three decades.

In the third film, the franchise started injecting humor into the series. Ash took on the persona of a major bad*ss, combined with a healthy degree of self-deprecating humor. Fans of both comedy and horror should be pleasantly surprised by the offering.

The TV series is expected to pick up after a two-decade hiatus for the character, who has inadvertently allowed the Deadites of the Evil Dead world back out of the book called the Necronomicon.

To add to the humor, the show will reunite Campbell with his "Xena" co-star Lucy Lawless. The actress was known for her own kick*ss moves, as well as her comical dynamic with Campbell on "Xena," which the pair are sure to revive in the new series.

Lawless will be playing the role of Ruby, a vengeful woman seeking to prove that Ash let the Deadite plague back out on humanity. She will go to any length to destroy both the creatures and Ash. It is unclear at this time if there is also a romantic history at play, but that is the most likely scenario.

Fans can catch the first episode of the series on Starz next week, when it premieres on Halloween.
