Justin Bieber Wins Big At MTV Europe Music Awards 2015
With a chart-topping single collaborated with Skrillex and Diplo, a follow-up album after three long years, endorsements left and right, including the highly drooled Calvin Klein exposure, 2015 has been a propitious year for Justin Bieber. In his impressive come-back, the singer had another set of bows to add on his arrow after dominating the recently concluded MTV Europe Music Awards.
Canadian music heartthrob bagged a total of five awards in the show held at Milan's Mediolanum Forum, including Best Male, Biggest Fans award, Best Look award, Best Worldwide Act (North America) and Best Collaboration for "Where Are U Now?" with Skrillex and Diplo. As a treat for viewers, Bieber belted a performance of his award-winning "Where Are U Now" on the Milan stage.
"It's been a long couple of years. I just feel like this is pretty awesome to be recognized for my music," the 21-year-old crooner said as he received his Best Male award, The Hollywood Reporter says. Bieber, in previous years, has been out of the spotlight for being involved in several controversies, two of which is his arrest for DUI and his break-up with ex Selena Gomez.
"You understand that I don't take any of these moments for granted. Not one of them. You guys are unbelievable and that's where I belong. Right there on that stage," the singer said after accepting the Worldwide Act award. The last time Bieber attempted to foster his music journey before last winter was in 2012, when he released his "Believe" album. During then, he was holding the honor of becoming the youngest artist in history to score five no. 1 albums in the Billboard 200 chart, as reported by Billboard.
But now, following his tumultuous years that were entailed by public growing pains, the crooner has triumphed in the music industry yet again, spoiling fellow hit makers like Ed Sheeran, One Direction, Rihanna and even the world's highest-earning musician, Taylor Swift.
According to a Variety report, British singer Ed Sheeran won the Best Live Act award and Best World Stage award, while the British-Irish boy band, One Direction, scored the Best Pop award. Rihanna was named as Bieber's female counterpart as she received Best Female award while pop star Taylor Swift took home the Best Song award for her "Bad Blood" song featuring Kendrick Lamar.
One Direction, Rihanna and Swift were nowhere the show while Ed Sheeran hosted the show and offered a performance of "Lay It On Me" with Rudimental.
