'Star Wars: Battlefront' Makes History With 9.5 Million Beta Players
In a rare display of gaming history, Electronic Arts (EA) pulled off a new record for the most number of gamers to play the beta version of "Star Wars: Battlefront."
According to a report from VG247, "Star Wars: Battlefront" was able to list a total of 9.5 million gamers to play the video game's beta version on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC.
In August, "Call of Duty: Black Ops III" was able to hit the highest number of users on PlayStation 4 while "Destiny" in 2014 pulled in at least 4.6 million users on its new IP beta version.
These staggering figures only show how beta versions of video games impact their final release as part of its developmental stage. For "Star Wars: Battlefront" beta version, what's even more impressive is how six million players fought every challenge just to unlock the Jump Pack and reach rank five.
A community report on the "Star Wars: Battlefront" website gave technical statistics on the impact of the 9.5 million players who participated in the "Star Wars: Battlefront" beta version. According to the report, the figure totaled to at least 1.6 billion of minutes played. If you're not yet impressed by that, that figure is equal to watching the "Star Wars" original trilogy for about 4.2 million times. The said number is also equal to 5.9 million individual spawns from Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker and approximately 1.3 million forced choke kills.
The 9.5 million users also accumulated to a walker destroying at least 783,000 times and an E-11 Blaster killing at least 293 million times.
The report also listed the top cards used by the players of the beta version. These include the Cycler Rifle, which was used for at least 903 million times, and the Thermal Detonator, which was used by approximately 574 million times. At least six million players were also able to unlock the Jump Pack.
The beta has already ended, but to recap, the beta version includes playing the role of Darth Vader and Luke Skywalker. Players were also engaged on some incredible sharpshooting spree as well as intense ground and aerial vehicle battles.
Survival missions were also available on the beta version of the "Star Wars: Battlefront," and it can be played solo or with another player. The Sullust patch is also one of the most interesting parts of the beta, wherein players get to set foot on it for the very first time.
"Star Wars: Battlefront" will launch in North America on Nov. 17 and Europe on Nov. 19.
