If history has taught us anything, tonight's episode of The Walking Dead, titled The Grove, will be a gory, suspenseful affair. According to Robert Kirkman, the show's creator, however, this is the most important episode to watch all season.

"[The episode] is definitely one that people are going to remember, and it's definitely one people are going to talk about," Kirkman told Entertainment Weekly. "If there is one episode of The Walking Dead that you absolutely had to watch this season, it would be this one."

Andrew Lincoln, who plays Rick Grimes, previously described the episode as one that made him go "to [showrunner] Scott Gimple and [ask] 'Are we gonna do this? We're really going to do this?'" So how will The Walking Dead shock fans tonight? Making it to Terminus would be quite the game changer.

"I can't say that," Kirkman exclaimed when asked if we'd see Terminus before season 4's end. "But I would say it would be ridiculous if we didn't. I mean, they are all on those tracks, and where are they going if they don't get to Terminus at some point? Maybe they get to Terminus before the end of the season. You never know."

One question a lot of fans are hoping to get an answer to is what exactly is going on between Daryl (played by Norman Reedus) and Beth (played by Emily Kinney). Some predict that romance is in the works.

"Now whether or not that is going to evolve into a romantic relationship remains to be seen," Kirkman said. "They've already been separated, so my hopes for that to happen are pretty low. There's a pretty slim chance of that relationship coming together and it continues the narrative of poor old Daryl is unlucky in love, but they're definitely clinging to each other for survival and growing a bond..."

"I think that she definitely really, really cares about him, and their relationship has grown and she's like really connected to him [in] a friendship way, but I don't think that it's necessarily occurred to her... that like, 'Oh, this could be something more,'" Kinney told Access Hollywood today.

Kirkman, who is a writer an executive producer for the show, also discussed the future of Sgt. Abraham Ford (Michael Cudlitz).

"I really hope that guy lasts into season 5 because if Abraham survives this season, and I'm not saying that he does, there would be some really cool stuff in season 5 with him," he said.

The Grove premieres tonight at 9/8c on AMC. Viewers can watch the latest episodes on AMC.com using their cable provider login.
