Lionel Richie on Adele's Newest Single 'Hello'
As Adele recently released her latest single "Hello" for her upcoming album, a lot of fans have been recognizing a few similarities between Adele's single and Lionel Richie's 1984 hit song with the same title. Just when everyone thought that the fun is just starting, Richie responded to the ongoing issue.
Adele's "Hello" and Richie's hit with the same title had some similarities both in tone and in the dramatic scenery of their music videos, especially in the beginning as seen on Youtube with Adele already gaining millions of views in a single day.
It is unsurprising for many since Richie's 1984 hit song "Hello" gained him two Grammy nominations in the past, EW reports.
However, BlendTV's recent mash-up song of Adele and Richie titled "Hello"/"Hello" which was posted on Youtube intensified the rumors even more. In the video, Adele was seen holding her cellular phone and suddenly her phone rang so she answers it and sings, "Hello," which was ripped from her music video.
Then, on the other side of the line was Richie also singing "Hello, is it me your looking for" from his hit song back in the '80s, and he suddenly gets cut when Adele hung up the phone. Indeed it was a hilarious clip, which Richie reposted on his social media breaking his silence about the circulating issue.
It seemed like a social media war is sparking, but, apparently, the two artists are taking it lightly. Richie posted a split photo of Adele and himself on Instagram, where he wrote the caption, "HELLO @adele is it me you're looking for... #hello," the 66-year-old singer wrote.
Meanwhile, Adele, who doesn't have any social media account spoke in an interview with BBC Radio 1's "Breakfast Show with Nick Grimshaw." She said, "We've definitely got to do something, me and Lionel," the 27-year-old singer said and even suggested that she and iconic singer Richie do a "hello-off" competition, as reported by the Telegraph.
And while the two artists are just smiling about their similar hits, social media users are, however, highly criticizing the two artists. One user wrote, "Adele: Hello! Lionel Ritchie: Please delete. I said it first," the user wrote on Twitter. While another one favors Richie's version than that of Adele's latest "Hello" song. "I prefer the Lionel Ritchie version. #Adele," the user wrote on Twitter.
Telegraph further reports that Adele's latest single "Hello" will be included in her upcoming new album titled "25," which will be out in the market this coming November.
