Ricky Gervais Returns As Host for Golden Globes 2016
After a three-year hibernation, the abrasive-mouthed Ricky Gervais is set to own the stage again for the Golden Globe awards next year and just like the other times, there is no holding back for the funny man.
According to Entertainment Weekly, the comedian was tapped to host the award-giving affair on Jan. 10 and was announced by the Golden Globes presenter on Monday, the Hollywood Foreign Press Association.
Regaining the throne from girl duo Amy Poehler and Tina Fey, who took the hosting duties for a three years, Gervais is back by popular demand despite of his previous gigs that became extremely controversial.
"The Office" comedian initially led the ceremony in 2010 and was asked to reprise again for the next two years. Gervais' hosting stints were a definite hit, all earning sky-high ratings despite his relentless skewering of Hollywood actors here and there. Gervais' stint lasted until in 2012, after then-president of the Hollywood Foreign Press Association Phillip Berk said that the funny man had "definitely crossed the line" despite the show being "terrific."
During then, Gervais vowed never to return for another hosting duties for the Golden Globes, according to a report from Deadline. But because of his critically acclaimed prowess as a presenter for every event he has made during his reprieve in the Golden Globes, Hollywood Foreign Press Association thought of giving the man another go. Luckily, he obliged the invitation. However, unluckily for some, Gervais is back with his scathing burns.
In a Twitter post, the 54-year-old comedian already gave a gentle warning for his upcoming stint on January. Referencing a Christmas song, Gervais said he is already making his "list" for the Golden Globes 2016 ceremony.
I'm making a list. I'm checking it twice. Gonna find out who's naughty and nice. #GoldenGlobes pic.twitter.com/Q4ZiTjQMCP

First off his probable list, as he hinted in a Twitter post, is Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump. He even gave a reminder for the business mogul to keep mum until the Golden Globes.
Now I want Donald Trump to stop saying things until the day before The Golden Globes. — Ricky Gervais (@rickygervais) October 26, 2015
It's a good job I'm drunk. Otherwise the thought of hosting The Golden Globes again would seem like a real pain in the arse.

During his three-year reign, celebrities were not spared from his glib tongue, including Jodie Foster, Johnny Depp, Angelina Jolie and the highest-paid male actor Robert Downey Jr.
