Sony's survey for an upcoming PlayStation firmware update was leaked. Is the PS4 firmware version 4.0's release imminent?

According to a post on Gamepur, it looks like the PlayStation maker is prepping up its newest update for the PS4 console. It was reported that on Oct. 25, a Neogaf user received a survey application from Sony asking about things he would like to see from the PS4 firmware 4.0.

The Neogaf member with name Saint of Killers received an invitation from Sony to answer the survey. In his post, he also posted screenshots of the survey he received.

"Got a PS survey (invite only)," he noted. "They ask for suggestions in a blank box but toward the end this popped up."

With the questions and things asked from the survey, Saints of Killer also shared that Sony seems to be "paying attention to what people have been asking about."

In one of the survey questions, Sony asked users about what they think are the important features that should be added in the PS4 4.0 Firmware. Some of the options include notifications when a friend comes online, Change PSN ID, ability to download avatars on PS4, store wish list and a mode to "appear offline."

Furthermore, one of the options listed it a choice to hide or remove library items such as demos. The survey also asked if the PS4 users want to have filtering options in the game libraries.

The options for the important features to add in the PS4 Firmware 4.0 also listed custom backgrounds. It also asked if users they want to have PS2 and PS1 classics come the firmware's release.

Another highlight of the survey is Sony's question to users about their desired release date for the PS4 4.0 Firmware update. The options include before the end of 2015, January to March 2016, April - June 2016, July - September 2016, October - December 2016 and 2017 or later.

The latest firmware available for the PlayStation 4 is version 3.10. Released earlier this month, the PS4 3.10 Firmware now allows the users to follow verified accounts of games, people and companies, PlayStation's official site noted.

Following the verified accounts will allow users to keep track their activities through the use of the "What's New" feature. Moreover, another addition in PS4 3.10 update is a new sticker that is currently available for use in Messages.
