It is not going to be "Gran Turismo 7" but rather "Gran Turismo Sport." Polyphony Digital revealed the official title as well as new updates about the upcoming PS4 racing game.

For the release date, GT fans can expect this new PS4 title to arrive in 2016. This was announced during the Paris Games Week PlayStation Conference as Sony unveiled the latest Gran Turismo game, according to the official US PlayStation blog.

The report also highlighted that the "Gran Turismo Sport" will bring in "better graphics, better physics, and better sounds. With the PS4 advances available, the game developer Polyphony Digital team said during the Paris Games Week that these new power will let them continue to improve various elements of the game, allowing them "deliver the most realistic driving simulator to date."

Furthermore, GameRant reported that the newly-announced "Gran Turismo Sport" will feature competitions sponsored by FIA. Another thing to look forward to this game is that it will have a PlayStation VR support.

There will be two FIA competitions in "Gran Turismo Sport," namely the Nations Cup and the Manufacturers Cup. The former is where players can represent their home country while the latter is where car racers can represent their favorite car maker.

To add to the excitement, "Gran Turismo Sport" will also be offering real prizes for these FIA competitions. The winner will be awarded during the yearly FIA ceremony, which bestows awards to winners of the real-world car racing competition.

As for the PlayStation VR support, "Gran Turismo Sport" is one of the games announced to be having this feature. Sony also announced during the press conference that "Tekken 7" and "Until Dawn: Rush of Blood" will also use the PlayStation maker's upcoming headset, GameRant also noted.

There was no VR demo presented during the event showing the use of the PlayStation VR support while playing "Gran Turismo Sport." However, since Shuhei Yoshida, the president of Sony PlayStation, said before that the headset has worked "fine" during trial tests for racing games, it is safe to assume that things are also going well for the "Gran Turismo Sport."
