George RR Martin Guest Stars on ‘Z Nation’ as Zombie This Week [Watch]
"Game of Thrones" creator George R.R. Martin will be guest starring on the popular Syfy zombie series "Z Nation" on Friday night, and he will not be one of the living.
According to Rolling Stone, Martin will be making his first appearance on the show as a zombified version of himself. Of course, this is not the first time a famous celebrity has come back from the dead to play a zombie version of his real-life self. In "The Simpsons" Shakespeare returned from the dead, and Bill Murray's appearance in "Zombieland" had a similar effect as well.
But Martin will not be an ordinary zombie. In the show, he has been cursed to a lifetime, or you can say a "death-time," of imprisonment in a small room, where muscle memory still allows him to sign books as he once did as a famous living author.
In a clip of the episode, the character responsible for putting Martin in the "celebrity zombie room" claims to have saved him and his girls following the outbreak at a comic-con, only later to see Martin get bitten and turn. He intends to make a fortune off his zombie signed books once eBay comes back in the future.
Martin seems to be really kind to the Syfy network lately, lending his character self to another of the channel's pop-culture phenomenons, "Sharkanado 3: Oh Hell No."
In that small budget TV movie, Martin was killed off in what seemed to be revenge for his treatment of his own characters. Martin was beheaded in much the same way that Ned Stark was in his novel and the subsequent TV series. Perhaps that was just his way of giving his fans some closure for killing off a beloved character.
Martin will be appearing on Friday's episode of "Z Nation" on Syfy at 10 p.m. EDT, according to TV Guide.
