Apple TV News: New Model Arriving in Stores This Week
The biggest overhaul to the Apple TV since its introduction by Steve Jobs many years ago is about to hit stores this week, and there are many features that customers are flocking to see.
According to a new report by 9to5Mac, the overhauled and redesigned set top box will begin selling in Apple retail stores on Friday and customers can be on the lookout for the product as early as Thursday night.
The stores have been instructed to start reorganizing to accommodate the sale of the new box on Thursday night in preparation for the new model to launch first thing on Friday morning to customers in the major metros that have Apple stores.
The new model will feature some notable upgrades and features that customers have long been waiting to see for the model.
First of all, the unit will be able to act as a hub with Siri features that will allow it to control the box.
Variety reports that the new box will also have an App store icon attached to it, which will allow app developers to bring their own products to the Apple market and make for an improved user experience.
There will also be storage on this new unit, which will come in two different sizes. For the standard size, which will cost $149, the unit will be equipped with 32GB's of memory. This will allow customers to download their movies or music to the box and watch their media offline.
The second size will be the 64GB model, which will obviously allow owners to download more movies. With the size of HD content these days, the added space will definitely be needed for offline viewing. This model will cost $199.
9to5 reports that the new Apple TV will also start going on sale at other retail stores, such as Best Buy, on Nov. 4.
