'American Horror Story' Season 4 Cast, Clues & Circus: Writer, Ryan Murphy and Evan Peters Spill Details About FX Show Premiere
A very important clue about the next season of American Horror Story was recently revealed during a Nerdist Writers Panel podcast.
During the podcast, which also featured writers Travis Fickett and Terry Matalas of the upcoming Syfy series 12 Monkeys and Moira Kirkland of Arrow, Douglas Petrie, American Horror Story writer, shared the setting of season 4.
"Yes," Petrie said when asked if the season would take place at a carnival. "It doesn't have a title, but that's the idea. Very roughly, that's the idea."
Season 4 will be Jessica Lange's last season.
"All I'll say is, Jessica Lange has always wanted to play a Marlene Dietrich figure, and now she gets to [in season 4]," Ryan Murphy, American Horror Story co-creator, told The Hollywood Reporter in October.
Lange will also be completing her final season with a different tongue.
"It's set in 1950," Murphy told Entertainment Weekly in January. "If you look historically what happened in the year 1950, there's some more clues in that year. It's a period piece. We try and do the opposite of what we've done before. Jessica Lange has already started practicing her German accent so I'm very excited!"
In a Feb. interview with Vulture, actor Evan Peters said that the next season would continue with the "more comedic tone" of season 3 but did not confirm his involvement.
"Oh, I don't know [if I'm in season 4]," he told Vulture. "I have no idea yet. But I'd definitely like that they're continuing on with the lighter side of things."
Sarah Paulson, on the other hand, has confirmed that she will star in the upcoming season.
Last year, Murphy revealed the concept and subtitle of American Horror Story Coven at PaleyFest. This year's American Horror Story PaleyFest panel is on March 28. Based on previous seasons' premiere history, season 4 will debut on FX in October.
