One Direction Tours, Songs, and News Update 2014: 'Midnight Memories' Band to Release Limited Edition Vinyl for Record Store Day [PIC]
One Direction proudly announces the upcoming release of a very special, retro vinyl version of their successful worldwide single, "Midnight Memories," off the band's third studio album for the 2014 edition of Record Store Day.
Launched in 2007, Record Store Day is a relatively new promotional event which celebrates independent record shops and their wares. The annual celebration is also credited with driving a recent surge in vinyl record sales.
Over the recent years, most participating bands have been of the indie-leading genre, releasing the special edition vinyl only available in small quantities for one day per year. However, the mainstream acts, such as Lady Gaga and Fall Out Boy, have previously participated in the event as well.
On the colorful cover of One Direction's forthcoming special edition vinyl record, the British boybanders are certainly channeling their inner hair metal band: they are sporting crazy, wild metal locks, accessorized with bandannas and extremely tight spandex, while rocking hard, playing their guitars. The artwork also features little drawings of white lightening around the 1D members. Their edgy '80s throwback vintage release will also feature a live version of "Rock Me" from the band's documentary, One Direction: This Is Us.
A limited number of copies of One Direction's single will be manufactured and sold at the participating record stores across the world on April 19. Other acts taking part in Record Store Day to announce the release include The Sex Pistols, Jake Bugg, Suede, Green Day and LCD Soundsystem.
