Wednesday night's Republican national debate provided plenty of blunders and erroneous moments for comedian Stephen Colbert to target during a segment on "The Late Show."

According to Deadline, the comedian and late show host seemed to be more interested in the moderators for the debate than the candidates themselves.

The debate opened with the question "What's your greatest weakness and how are you addressing it?"

Colbert pointed out that no person in the history of the world had ever answered that question honestly. The comedian was actually quite taken with the answer from Sen. Ted Cruz, whom Colbert said gave what he termed "the most least" answer to the classic interview question.

"If you want someone to drink a beer with, I may not be that guy. But if you want someone to drive you home, I will get the job done," Cruz said in response.

Then, for the first time in history, Colbert seemed sincere when he praised Donald Trump for indulging his ego, this time for the sake of the people.

Trump took credit for making the debate a two-hour show, as opposed to the originally planned 3.5-hour show. Though Trump's ego was in full swing as he touted that fact onstage during the actual debate, his statement was true enough to earn Colbert's praise, if only for a moment.

"You have earned my vote, as long as you can negotiate your presidency down from four years to -- two hours feels about right," Colbert added.

Jimmy Kimmel also took the opportunity after the debate to jump in with his own commentary, comparing the debate to an episode of "The View."
