In spite of the national backlash from Latino advocacy groups against Donald Trump's upcoming hosting gig on "Saturday Night Live," there is at least one prominent Latina standing in his corner -- Eva Longoria.

A coalition of Latino groups and officials have been protesting the decision to let Trump host the NBC late night comedy show on Nov. 7 in light of his many xenophobic remarks, which includes calling Mexican immigrants drug traffickers and rapists and advocating to deport all undocumented immigrants.

"We are appalled that you would enable Trump's hateful speech for nothing [more] than a ratings ploy," wrote the National Hispanic Leadership Agenda group in a letter to "SNL" executive producer Lorne Michaels and NBCUniversal Chief Executive Stephen Burke. The letter also argues that the GOP presidential candidate's appearance would "validate" his anti-immigration views.

In addition, Rep. Luis Gutierrez, D-Ill., sent a letter to Burke and Brian Roberts, who runs NBCUniversal parent company Comcast, urging the network to disinvite the billionaire real estate mogul. According to Gutierrez, having the candidate host the show implied "a level of endorsement that says to America that every hateful and racist thing Donald Trump has said is acceptable and no big deal."

Longoria, on the other hand, is going against the gain by defending the network's decision to give Trump the gig.

"This is part of freedom of speech, freedom of press," the Mexican-American actress-activist told The Wrap.

"He has his right -- not only that, [executive producer] Lorne Michaels has a right to book whoever he wants."

Longoria added that the Hispanic groups calling for NBC to disinvite Trump are going about the matter in the wrong way.

"We as a Hispanic community have a choice to not watch it. That's our choice. ... That's what we can do. That's what you're supposed to do. Boycott that night, and then let that show feel that 'oh, OK we did make a bad decision.' You cannot limit that choice to producers or a network. That's their choice to do that," said the former "Desperate Housewives" star.
