During Disney's shareholders meeting in Portland last Tuesday, March 18, the company's chief executive Bob Iger announced that Pixar is revving up for the sequel of "The Incredibles" and the third installment of "Cars", Variety reported.

The company also tweeted on the same day a photo of the "Incredibles" family and wrote, "Its official, we're currently working on new films featuring your favorite characters from The Incredibles and Cars!"

The first "Cars" film was released in 2006 and earned more than $60,000,000 in the box office during its opening week. Five years later, "Cars 2" made its debut which followed the protagonist Lightning McQueen and his friend Mater and their involvement in international espionage. On the other hand, the 2004 "The Incredibles" earned more than $70,000,000 during its opening weekend.

In October of last year, Michael Wallis, the voice behind the Sheriff in the two films, hinted at the possible storyline for the upcoming third film. According to Slash Film, Wallis said during a radio interview, "Cars 3 we're coming back to the road. And we're coming back to 66 into 99. That's the road that runs right through Central California."

Route 66, of course, is the famous American Highway where the fictional town of Radiator Springs is located.

As for the plot for "The Incredibles" sequel, director Brad Bird revealed in a 2011 Movies.com interview that he has some "great ideas" for the film. He said, "I have some ideas and if I ever get it all together into a story that is at least as good as the one we did, I'd be happy to return to that world. I love working with Pixar."

He added, "I would like to think that I have several good ideas that could be incorporated into a next 'Incredibles', but I don't have a whole movie yet, and the last thin I want to do is do it just because it would open big, or something like that."

Fans of the first film are speculating that since the two films are at least 10 years apart, "The Incredibles 2" might center on Jack-Jack, the baby of the Parr family that surprised everyone by displaying a multitude of superpowers. For the sequel, viewers might get to see a teenage Jack-Jack coming into terms with his family's background and his superhuman abilities.
