'The Revenant' News Update: Leonardo DiCaprio's New Film Reveals Posters
New posters to Alejandro Gonzalez Inarritu's film "The Revenant" have been released.
The new film is one of the most anticipated of the year, and Fox has slowly been revealing more information about the film. This time the studio released two striking posters to the film with the lead actors. The first poster shows Leonardo DiCaprio on the right side of the poster, and the second poster has Tom Hardy. Both images emphasize the tagline "Blood Lost. Life Found." The poster also emphasizes the fact that the film is based on a true story.
One of the interesting things is the poster is emphasizing the wide release date on Jan. 6, 2016. The film is expected to open on Christmas day to qualify for the Academy Awards in limited release.
"The Revenant" has been in the press over the last year as the film was shot with natural light and had a number of delays. According to rumors, the crew walked off due to the harsh conditions they were put under in Canada. Tom Hardy was also forced to quit "Suicide Squad" because of the delays. Additionally the budget began at $90 million and has already climbed to $135 million. That budget of course does not count the print and advertisement. Fox hopes to recover and open with huge numbers.
Leonardo DiCaprio has been a box office draw over the past few years with "The Wolf of Wall Street," "Shutter Island," "The Great Gatsby" and "Django Unchained." However, it will be interesting to see how this new film will fare especially with such a crowded holiday slate and with so many Oscar contenders flopping.
"The Revenant" is expected to garner numerous Oscar nominations including a Best Picture nomination. Many pundits expect that DiCaprio will finally win his Oscar after numerous nominations.
