He certainly hit a home run with this one! Baseball icon Derek Jeter inadvertently confirmed his engagement to supermodel Hannah Davis, officially making one of the most eligible bachelors in the sporting world out of the market.

Jeter, 41, dropped the news casually in a blog post about his dog, saying, "I had no idea what I was in for as a new dog owner. He was a Christmas gift last year from my fiancée, whose family had Mastiffs growing up."

The Yankees legend has been with the 25-year-old Sports Illustrated stunner since 2012, and both have been very private about their relationship. However, a report from the New York Daily News revealed that the happy couple is finally ready to exchange vows and their loved ones are thrilled at the prospect.

"She already has the ring," a source close to Davis told the New York Daily News. "The family is very happy because they really like him."

According to a report from The Hollywood Life, Davis is already sporting the engagement ring that's a major sparkler.

Ritani vice president of marketing Mark Keeney talked about the large rock, saying, "Jeter knocked it out of the park on this ring, with round center stone appearing to be no less than 3 carats and by the looks of it a flawless stone at that. Set in a platinum french-set band — this elegant style is estimated to be close to $300k."

Neither Jeter nor Davis have officially addressed the speculation about their engagement directly. The former shortstop even went so far as to dodge the questions when he was asked at a luncheon last month, according to Entertainment Tonight.

"I like to keep things as sacred as possible," Jeter said. "I keep everything close to home."

The New York legend has spent many years dating some of the entertainment industry's most beautiful women including Mariah Carey, Jordana Brewster, Adriana Lima, Vanessa Minnillo, Jessica Alba, Scarlett Johannson and Minka Kelly.

According to a report from Us Magazine, a source told them that the sportsman is incredibly compatible with Davis - more so than any of his past girlfriends.

When Jeter retired from his professional baseball career, he decided it might be time to finally settle down with his lady love. Us Magazine revealed that he addressed marriage in a January 2015 panel saying, "I just know that I personally couldn't have done it while I was playing. I was too selfish to be able to juggle a family and kids. But I look forward to it happening."
