When Asus unleashed the ZenFone 2 collection in India earlier this year, it was uncertain if any of the smartphones will ever make their way to the U.S. anytime soon. Now, one model in the impressive lineup is finally available in the U.S., the Asus ZenFone 2 Laser.

Although the U.S. ZenFone 2 Laser shares a name and some features with the international model, a report from Android Central reveals the new release is a more premium smartphone that sports a bigger body and is more similar to the original ZenFone 2.

An official release from Asus announced the launch of the ZenFone 2 Laser, which is named after its best feature: the lightning-fast laser autofocus 13-megapixel PixelMaster 2.0 camera. The autofocus technology is the centerpiece of the new handset with its speedy ability to focus and take sharp photographs. It's certainly the highlight of the device — an impressive piece of equipment that's also fitted with a F/2.0, 5-element lens and a dual LED flash.

The Lenovo ZenFone 2 Laser boasts a 5.5-inch 1080p screen with Corning Gorilla Glass 4 for optimum protection. Under the hood, Asus' latest smartphone is powered by the octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor with Adreno 405 graphics. Other features include a micro-SD card slot for expandable memory up to 128GB and a removable 3,000 mAh battery. It also offers support for dual active SIM and LTE data connections.

"ASUS ZenFone 2 Laser delivers a premium phone with laser autofocus, octa-core performance, dual active SIM, Corning Gorilla Glass 4 and removable battery to value-conscious users," the official release stated, highlighting the device's affordability for its features.

A review from Slash Gear responded positively to the new device, agreeing with the value for the budget feature of the phone and adding, "if you're on a compatible network and you're upgrading from an older or lower-tier device, you'll be very happy with the ZenFone 2 Laser — it is stylish, has a robust camera, excellent battery life, and solid overall performance."

The ZenFone 2 Laser 16GB costs $199 while the 32GB version is priced at $249. The handsets are available at Newegg and the ASUS Store.

According to a report from Phone Arena, some of the other Asus smartphones launched in India include the ZenFone 2 Deluxe, ZenFone Selfie, ZenFone Max and two other variants of the ZenFone 2 Laser. Do you think any else will be released in the U.S. by the end of the year?
