When Allison Argent -- played by actress Crystal Reed -- suddenly died on MTV's hit series Teen Wolf, she sparked both outrage and a Twitter trending topic, leading many to wonder how, and why, she died so suddenly. But as it turns out, Reed herself asked her character to be killed off!

According to The Epoch Times, even though Reed was grateful for the many opportunities that the show provided both her and her character -- most specifically, the opportunity to be a role model for young women -- she realized that she was quickly outgrowing the role.

"From the beginning, I've grown into a woman from the show -- from beginning to end -- and I think that was the biggest motivating factor for me to leave," she said. "I feel that there's nothing more that I can give to this character. I love the art. And I felt like, creatively, there were things I wanted to do differently, and I wanted to explore other avenues of film and TV. I wanted to jump into different characters. You know, I'm 29. So I think the age difference was something I wanted to change as well because she's 17. I love the show so much. So I went to Jeff and talked about it and he said, 'We'll write you a great ending.'"

Many people are calling Argent as a "warrior amongst us," and her death sparked the worldwide trending topic #RIPAllison.

Allison Argent -- unlike Bella Swan and many other female protagonists in this genre before her -- was a well-developed, three-dimensional character that held her own against her contemporaries, both male and female. Allison was an accomplished archer and gymnast. Her family life was difficult. Before her death, her mother was given to fits of rage, while her father was over-protective. Naturally, of course, Allison had a bit of a rebellious streak. She was friends with Lydia Martin, Jackson Whittemore and Stiles Stilinski. She was romantically involved with both Scott McCall and Isaac Lahey.

Allison died in Scott's arms after trying to save Lydia from a demon. No better way for a true heroine to die!
